Very clean facility, friendly staff, nice little breakfast, convenient kitchen in unit, and lots and lots of plugs. That doesn't sound like a big deal, but there was a plug everywhere I needed one - very convenient. I had one of only a couple of private bath units, outside the main building, which was especially private and quiet, with a little balcony. Not luxurious, but still has a lot of amenities. It was easy to park on the street at a metered spot & meters only run from 8 am to 6 pm). I parked right next to the hotel every night, even when I came back around 10 or 11. I felt very safe here, even as a woman traveling alone. It is not in the heart of downtown, but you could walk to Little India pretty easily and they have bikes you can use though it is quite hilly in this part of downtown. Also has free high-speed internet connection as well as a couple of wireless routers that worked well.

My Mom and I stayed here when we were visiting family in the area. The rooms were clean and quaint. The bathrooms were clean and you shared them with maybe 3 or 4 other rooms.The continental breakfast was nothing spectacular, but it was nice to have a free meal every morning! The area isn't bad, but I wouldn't recommend walking around there at night. Take a taxi if you want to go out at night!

Excellent staff and service. Rooms were clean but could use a little refreshing (missing window blind, broken trashcan lid, tired carpet). Overall, funky little hotel with very attractive lobby and common areas. Enjoyed stay and would definitely return.

Bathrooms down the hall worked better than I expected. Clean and no waiting - but bring a bathrobe for the walk in the hall. Staff very helpful and friendly. Too much sweet stuff at breakfast. Need to add bagels or toast.

11/12/2006Amazing value! hotel occidental was a welcome surprise. friendly, helpful staff! spotless, quiet room, and tasty continental breakfast! reminiscent of a swiss hotel i stayed in last year.
