Best Western Sterling Hotel
10/07/2009I really loved the bathroom. great shower.the towels were nice and fluffy. it was very clean and well stocked. the staff were really nice.

IF it weren't for the bad room smell. I'd give this 4 star. The hotel was pretty close to the airport, all employees were super nice. Bed was super comfy, pillows fluffy, large rain type shower head in bathroom, lg mini fridge and microwave, quiet even though they were packed because of Nascar. My only gripe is the smell of my room. I reserved a non smoking room. I got room 105. Opened the door adn was punched in the face with old smoke smell. They had plug in room deodorizers going so it was fake flower smell and smoke. YUCK! I am very sensitive to smoke smell so was in sinus hell the whole time. Sadly-window doesn't open to let in fresh air. I assume the room was a smoking room until recently. It really needs to have the door and window open for a good 24 hours, walls washed, carpet cleaned and drapes replaced to get rid of the smell. It wouldn't take much to get this to a truly non smoking room. If you have allergies or are senstive you may have to pass up on this hotel.

The staff friendly and helpful with Things to do/see info but ran out of maps.The computer center for guests very limited and busy,busy,busy. Rooms neat and clean but pillows(even 3 of them) small and too soft(Is there a hotel that has nice firm,full large pillows?).

nice and quiet
09/22/2008We were just staying overnight to be close to the airport for an early flight out the next morning. quiet room, wake up call right on time. clean and convenient.

I was surprised at how close it was to I-77 and how easy it was to find my way around the city AND get back to the hotel without getting lost! I didn't like that cigarette smell when you first walk in but I did like how the dining area was set up and there was a large tv to walk as you ate. Thank goodness the smokers are kept on the first floor and there are signs all over about the 2nd and 3rd floors reserved for non smokers. I do smoke but I do it outside where I don't offend anyone! The room was very nice and cozy. The fride was bigger than I thought. I did forget to mention that on a call to the hotel the lady sounded like Boomhower off of King of the HIll and when she gave directions the only thing I understood was Bojangles but she resigned that very day so we didn't have to deal with her the rest of the r=trip-THANK GOD! I'm not going to b*tch and complain about the little things out of place which there weren't any. I am going to point out that I expected our room to stay junky from unpacking and going to ray's splash planet and once we return everything was cleaned up and new towels were in stock with some other items in the bathroom. That was what what really sealed a 4star approval for me. We recieved very specific directions to location within the city from another lady at the front desk, she was clear and precise in her directions. SHe was very friendly as were the staff and I'd definitely stay here again very soon!
