This was one of our hotels during a two week road trip through California, Arizona, Utah & Nevada. It was far below average and the worst when it comes to cleanliness. Rooms and everything in there was old. Worst thing, which kills every optimism: The toilet was totally dirty. It was more than obvious that either they didn't clean the bathroom at all or didn't care at all. The only positive point goes to the friendly staff.

We chose this hotel because it was close to the city area of San Diego and had a very low rate per night. The hotel's website boasts ""newly remodeled rooms,"" our room failed to meet this description. The bathroom seemed to have been redone recently, but the rest of the room needed some work. There were cigarette burns in the comforter and stains in the carpet and on chairs. There was a black spot on the shower curtain, and the bath towels, while smelling of bleach, still had several rust-colored stains. The wireless internet was lacking. The website lists ""free wireless internet in some rooms,"" so we weren't particularly surprised to find a weak signal that went in and out. The hotel is one block from the harbor, but there isn't much else in the area. There is a seafood restaurant directly behind the hotel; otherwise, the majority of food in the area is fast food. Overall, we didn't have a horrible experience here; however, I would recommend spending a few extra dollars per night for a different hotel if you are staying more than a couple nights.

I booked in March for a room in the middle of summer. It was ready when I arrived, it was clean, and the doors had locks. Stayed with some extra people then I'd originally planned and the hotel made no fuss. My friends suitcase had gotten soaked during travel and the front desk directed us promptly to a nearby laundromat. The room was cleaned every day, though we weren't entirely sure they actually changed the sheets. It was a pretty great hotel for the price, even the few free pastries for breakfast helped us through the week. The one thing is that the parking lot is SMALL. Spaces are even smaller. But overall I was very satisfied.
