Great location in the old center city. Near historical sites. Near many many restaurants and interesting shops. Free continental breakfast. Convenient small size. Hotel is very old but updated. Get a room not facing main street (Chestnut). There will be less light but Chestnut is busy and could generate night noise. Will stay there again.

I really enjoyed my stay at this Best Western, where I decided to stay for the two nights I was in Philly. Before picking Best Western, I spent time reviewing other hotel options. As others have reported, this hotel is well maintained, clean. The hotel room wasn't available until 3 pm on New Years day because they were full the night before, so I was able to store my things safely and then go about town. Staff were pretty decent--but no one was on par with XXX--who is exceptional. He provided reliable referrals for meals, helped me to sort out transportation (even printed out rail/subway maps and schedules), and overall provided superior hospitable service that was far better than any other hotel experience I have had. In Philly, I found some people had an "I don't care attitude"--so it was very nice to return to the hotel where staff did pay attention to providing respectful assistance and making you feel welcomed.
The hotel is near main attractions (visitors center), 50 or so restaurants, etc. It was a great location, since I didn't have a car. I will definitely return.
I did notice that on the second night, I could hear a family talking--don't know if they were in the hall or next door. But overall I could fall back asleep. Thje on;y concern I would have is if the walls are thin, but overall I had a fine experience and would return again. -
Great Philly Experience

The staff is very helpful and friendly; many staff members helped us with trip logistics like getting around and renting a car.
Afternoon tea and cookies are served, and the cozy lobby is an inviting place to take a break.
The breakfast spread was great, too, from the waffle-maker to the pastries.
This isn't a luxury hotel, but it is by far the best Best Western property I've ever stayed in. -

Our stay here was part of an extended vacation that included New York and Ontario. We wanted a place close to the sights in Philadelphia. This hotel provided just that. Our stay was pleasant. The only problem we had was that the internet connection was inoperable and the staff didn't seem to want to help. There are a number of trolley systems in the city that provide access to things to see and do, so we could have stayed at any number of places.
