We are here now and extremely disappointed with the new owner. We have stayed here at least once a year since 2002. After this year's experience, we probably won't come back. It depends on whether the manager will fix our current problems. The common areas are not as clean as they used to be and you can smell the trash when entering the main entrance. The worst part is it's Monday, June 29th and they don't have shampoo or blankets and sheets for the sofa bed for the second day in-a-row. This hotel once had fun enterainment at the pool with a DJ and pool bar. One year they even had parrot head weekend fundraiser with Margaritaville broadcasting from here with entertainment each night. The new managament discontinued the DJ as a way to save money, hoping more people would spend their time at the water park and spend more money at the River City Cafe. From what we see, it pretty much killed the atmosphere and the pool bar. I guess now we can find a seat at anytime around the pool. Not sure how keeping guests away from the pool and pool bar will make you money. The DJ and entertainment made it worth paying the price for an aging hotel. With out the atmosphere, you can stay in many better places for the same price or less.

The check-in was easy enough. It was a decent room for what I paid-even had a microwave and minifridge. Having WiFi is a plus. I loved the balcony view even from the side. There's a wide array of better chain restaurants and other fare within a few blocks walking distance on King's Hwy. There's also a minimart at the resort or a Food Lion on the main drag if staying in is your thing. Although the room seemed clean enough the bathroom had a tired look that could use updating. The hall outside my room was dark, the lights were out; not the safest feeling. I had mentioned it to the desk when I got there as well during check-out because it hadn't been taken care of.

We just got back from a short vacation. We have a family of 5 and they put us in a room with 2 double beds (small and hard) and a pull out sofa. The pull out was the largest bed around. When we asked about getting an upgrade they were full because a water pipe had burst in their sister hotel, Sands, and had brought those guest over. The room appeared clean but had a musty smell. When I complained they gave me a can of air freshner. The small refrig. wouldn't stay closed so the food spoiled quickly. The cabinets on the inside looked bad as well. I wouldn't even put things inside them. The towels had stains on them. My husband said that a couple of days he thought we kept getting the same towels because they had the same stain on them.
The pool was ok but was often cloudy. This could be a problem when you can't see the bottom of the pool. With no lifegaurd, the kids were loud until late in the night. I am surprised that no one got hurt. Access to the beach was very easy. The beach was clean and beautiful. Getting around to other areas of Myrtle Beach was easy. It took about 10 minutes to travel to Broadway at the beach. There are lots of things to see and do while in Myrtle Beach. We will not be staying here again. There are lots of other choices around. -

The ocean views are great, but not at the risk of my child. No chain locks on the doors and they can be easily open by a toddler. The lock in the patio did not work..we were on the 10th floor! Maintenance did replace it. the rails on the balcony are set wide enough for a small child to fall through easily. If you don't have kids...I would recommend this place. Or if you stay, stay on a lower floor with no ocean view.

The ice machine on our floor had been leaking for a long time. The carpet in the hallway had the unforgettable smell of mold/must/mildew. Despite numerous complaints to the front desk, nothing was done about it.Do not waste your money here!
